This cover shows a Fibonacci spiral, based on the Fibonacci numbers used in a teaching activity in this issue (page 13). The side lengths of the squares are the Fibonacci sequence, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, and so on. A quarter circle is then drawn in each square, forming the spiral. Thus this is only an approximation to a logarithmic spiral, the Golden logarithmic spiral in fact, in the same way that the ratio of consecutive Fibonacci terms is an approximation to the Golden ratio.
