Abstract

We demonstrate that in the singularly perturbed "bistable" problem (in elliptic PDE), there exist solutions with sharp interior layers and spikes even when the boundary value is infinity. Together with known results on solutions with finite boundary values, our results suggest that the interior layers and spikes in the bistable problem are not affected very much by the boundary conditions.

All interested are invited to attend. Afternoon tea will be held in Staff Common Room 67-704 at 3.00 p.m.
