- As always, there are three lectures this week
- no tutorials this week; hence no assignment due in this week
- you need to sign-on to a tutorial this week; for St Lucia students,
the forms are on level 5 of the mathematics building, opposite room 5.24.
Don't sign-on until after the first lecture. Ipswich students will
be advised what to do in the first lecture.
- the additional contact hour will not be held this week
- Lecture 1 involves general information, and a quick revision test
- Lectures 2 and 3 involve a very quick review of number systems, basic
arihmetic, fractions, exponentiation, number lines, and the like. Fairly
easy stuff, but you might have forgotten it!
- useful reading: the first few chapters of the text PPW (Petocz,
Petocz and Wood). Reading is not very important this week: we do not
match the book very closely just at this stage
Copies of various handouts are available here. Because they include
lots of mathematics, they are in a postscript (.ps) format. To be able
to display them or print them, you will need a program which can
understand postscript. See the bottom of this document for one, for PCs
running Windows 95/98.
