Analytical and Computational Methods for Modelling Evanescent Random Processes (1992-1994) and (1995-1997)

[Papers and Abstracts]

Summary

We aim to develop analytical and computational techniques for evaluating quasistationary distributions. These are mathematical tools which allow one to model the long-term behaviour of evanescent random processes which exhibit apparent stationarity, for example, those which frequently arise in biology, chemistry and telecommunications. We anticipate that our methods will be of use to practitioners in these fields, in addition to contribution to our understanding of the theory of random processes.
