Methods for Approximating the Behaviour of Chemical Processes and Ecological Systems (1989-1991)

[Papers and Abstracts]

Summary

We shall develop approximation techniques for analysing statistical models of a variety of chemical and ecological processes. In addition to being of theoretical interest, they will be appropriate for determining reaction rates and reactant concentrations in chemical processes as well as determining the extent of random fluctuations in the size of animal populations. The methods will be of use in pathology, for example in decreasing the time taken to perform various diagnostic tests, in the study of populations of insect parasites, in wildlife management and in the management of fish stocks.
