Matrix-Analytic Methods in Applied Probability (1996-1998)
[With Bill Henderson, Charles Pearce and Peter Taylor, Department of Applied Mathematics, The University of Adelaide]
Summary
Matrix analytical methods have been very useful in providing computable solutions in stochastic modelling. In this project we aim to extend the class of real-world systems to which such analysis can be applied, by generalising the mathematics involved, by considering new measures of system performance, and by looking at new areas of application. Principal among the latter is the field of mathematical ecology where the methods have great potential.
