Welcome!

I am a Senior Lecturer with the School of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. I am also the Director of the Master of Financial Mathematics program.
I joined UQ in September 2014 as Senior Lecturer in Mathematics and Director of the Master of Financial Mathematics (MFinMath) Program. Through strategic, effective, and sustained leadership, I've overseen the Program's transformation into one of Australia's largest. My leadership has been guided by the broader strategic priorities of UQ, along with a proactive and innovative approach to overcoming significant challenges.
A pivotal aspect of this transformation has been the enhancement of our teaching methodologies and the nurturing of a vibrant student and alumni community since 2015. In parallel, I've established and nurtured collaborations spanning various industry sectors such as FinTech, Superannuation, Energy, Investment, Banking & Finance, Information Technology, and Commercial.

One of the highlights of these collaborations is the introduction of industry placement projects in 2015, which have successfully bridged the gap between academic research and industry application. These collaborations, particularly the placement projects, have become a cornerstone of our Program, substantially bolstering its industry relevance.

Furthermore, my efforts have facilitated promising career opportunities and further academic training for our graduates. I have had the honor of successfully supervising to completion numerous MFinMath graduates (120+) and several PhD candidates, many of whom are now contributing significantly to esteemed corporations worldwide.
My ongoing commitment is centered around fostering an enriching educational environment, promoting impactful research, and strengthening industry-academia collaborations at UQ.

Beyond my professional commitments, I find balance through a range of personal interests.
Sports: I am a blackbelt in Judo and an enthusiastic and regular CrossFit practitioner. In particular, I am very much into Plyometrics.

Music: Furthermore, I have a deep appreciation for music, particularly piano compositions (especially those from the Baroque period (1600-1750) and the Classical period (early 1700s to early 1800s)).

My daughter, now an advanced pianist, has been a source of both inspiration and amusement for me. Despite enduring her initial stages of piano practice, filled with the typical off-key notes and stumbles that come with learning an instrument, I've been rewarded with the joy of her progress. Her dedication to mastering the piano serves as a continual source of motivation and a reminder of the beauty found in commitment and growth. Some of her performances in piano competitions will be posted here.
